Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 11, 2026 · Version 2026-09-11

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains, in plain words, what data the ConvoBooks app stores, what we use it for, who it is shared with, how long we keep it, how you can delete it and what rights you have over it. It applies to the Android and iOS app and to this website.

What is on this page

1. Who is responsible for your data

The party responsible for your personal data is ConvoBooks, a project based in Tipitapa, Managua, Nicaragua. We are the ones who decide what data is stored and what it is used for. For anything about your data, write to us at diosesamorporsiempre.cloud@gmail.com.

2. The most important points, in short

Before going into detail, we want you to know this:

  • We only store the data the app needs to work: your account, your profile and what you read, save, rate and comment on.
  • We never sell your data and we never share it with anyone for their own purposes.
  • All the stories in the catalog are created with artificial intelligence and reviewed before they are published.
  • We do not use your location, we do not read your contacts, and the app does not use the camera or the microphone.
  • The comments and ratings you write are public to the community; the rest of your data is not.
  • All connections are encrypted (HTTPS).
  • The app is not directed to children under 13.
  • You can delete your account and your data whenever you want, from the app or by email.

3. What data we store

Your account data: your name and email address, and the profile photo, when it is available, that we receive from Google or Apple when you sign in. Because you sign in with those providers, we never store any password. We also keep your preferred language.

Your profile data: your public name and photo, and your notification preferences.

What you publish: the comments and star ratings you write on the books.

Your activity in the app: the books you save to My list, your reading progress by chapter, the books you mark as read, the books you have already seen, your recent searches inside the app, the date you were last active, the reports you make and the people you block.

Technical data: the token that allows us to send notifications to your phone (Expo, Firebase Cloud Messaging or Apple Push Notification service) together with the type of system, and a sign-in log with the IP address and the type of device, for security.

We do not store your location, your contacts, your phone number, payment data or voice recordings. The Pro subscription is paid through Google Play Billing, so we never receive your card details. The voice that reads the books aloud comes from your own device (text to speech) and no audio of yours is sent to us.

4. What we use each piece of data for

Your account data is used to create the account, let you sign in and protect access. Your preferred language is used to show you the app and the catalog in the language you choose.

Your profile data is shown to the community. Your comments and ratings are shown to the community, which is part of what the app is for.

Your activity is used to save your reading progress, show you My list and the books you have marked as read, show your recent searches and send you the notifications you choose. With aggregated data that identifies no one, we see how much each part of the app is used in order to improve it.

Technical data is used to send you notifications, detect unusual access and protect your account. Reports and blocks are used to moderate and keep a safe space.

Separately from your personal data, we want to be clear that every story in the catalog is created with artificial intelligence and reviewed by our team before it is published. That is content we produce, not information about you.

We do not use your data for advertising profiling, we do not sell it and we do not make automated decisions about you with legal effects.

5. Phone permissions

On Android, the only permission the app asks for is notifications, with the standard system prompt, when you sign in.

On iPhone, the app asks only for permission for notifications.

The app does not ask for the camera, microphone, location, contacts or your photos. You can revoke the notifications permission whenever you want from your phone settings and the app keeps working.

6. What the community sees and what it does not

ConvoBooks has an open community around the books. Your comments and star ratings, and your public profile (name and photo), can be seen by anyone in the community. There are no visibility levels and no private content.

Your email, your preferred language, your saved books, your reading progress, your searches, your reports and your technical data are never shown to other people.

7. Who we share it with

Only with the providers we need for the app to work. They process your data only on our behalf, to provide that service, and cannot use it for their own purposes:

  • Hostinger: the server where the app and the database run.
  • Cloudflare R2: storage for the covers, images and audio of the books.
  • Expo Push Notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) and Apple Push Notification service: delivery of notifications to your phone.
  • Google Sign-In: only if you choose to sign in with Google.
  • Sign in with Apple: only if you choose to sign in with Apple.
  • Google Play Billing: processing of the Pro subscription, if you subscribe. We never receive your card details.
  • Sentry: error logging for our server, configured not to send personal data. The phone app does not include Sentry.
  • Expo Updates: when you open the app, it checks for an update by sending the type of system and the app version.

8. Other situations in which we hand over data

We will hand over data to an authority only when the law requires it or to protect a person in danger. In particular, in any case of child sexual abuse or exploitation, we preserve the evidence and report it to the competent authorities, as explained in our Child safety standards.

Some providers may be outside your country. When that happens, we require them to protect your data with the same care we do. We do not sell or give your data to anyone else.

9. How long we keep it

We keep your data as long as your account exists. In addition:

  • You can delete your comments and your saved books whenever you want, and they are erased right then.
  • You can change your ratings at any time.
  • When you delete your account, we erase or anonymize your data at that very moment, as explained in section 14.
  • Reports that other people made about your content are kept for 12 months, for moderation, and then erased.
  • Database backups renew themselves: none is kept for more than 30 days.
  • If a law requires us to keep something for longer, we keep it only while that obligation lasts.

10. Reports, blocks and moderation

Before publishing, an automatic filter checks the text of your comments and blocks forbidden words. When you report a comment, a rating or a person, we store the report, the reason you choose and your identifier so our moderation team can review it within 24 hours at most. If the content breaks the rules, we remove it.

We use that data only to moderate and protect the community; the reported person does not know who reported them. When you block someone, we store that relationship to stop showing you their content and so they cannot interact with you. You can see and undo your blocks in the Menu › Blocked people, and follow your reports in the Menu › My reports.

11. Security

All connections between the app, this site and our servers are encrypted with HTTPS. We do not store passwords, because you sign in with Google or Apple and those providers handle your access.

Only the team that runs the app can access the servers, with protected access. No system is infallible, but we care for your data as something valuable and, if an incident affecting you ever happened, we would let you know.

12. Minors

ConvoBooks is not directed to children under 13 years old. The app is not declared for children in the stores.

We do not knowingly collect data from people under 13. If we detect an account belonging to a child under that age, we delete it together with its data.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 is using the app, write to us at diosesamorporsiempre.cloud@gmail.com and we will delete the account. Our Child safety standards are at https://convobooks.app/child-safety.

13. Your rights

You can see and change your notification settings and your preferred language from the Menu, and delete your account from the Menu › Delete account.

You can also ask us in writing to access your data, correct it, delete it, object to a use or receive a copy, by writing to diosesamorporsiempre.cloud@gmail.com from your account email. We reply within the following 5 business days and resolve your request within 30 days at most.

If you believe we have not respected your rights, you can turn to the data protection authority of your country.

14. How to delete your account and your data

From the app: go to Profile, open the Menu, scroll to the bottom, tap “Delete account” and confirm. The deletion happens right then.

Without the app: if you already uninstalled it or cannot sign in, write to diosesamorporsiempre.cloud@gmail.com from your account email with the subject “Delete my account”. We reply within the following 5 business days and delete it within 30 days at most. The full steps are at https://convobooks.app/delete-account.

When you delete your account we anonymize your profile: we remove your name, your photo and your preferred language, and we release your email so you can use it again.

We erase your devices and notification tokens, your sign-in log and your searches, your saved books and your reading history, the books you marked as read, your notifications, your ratings, your blocks and the reports you made.

Your comments and ratings stop being visible. We only keep for 12 months the reports that other people made about your content, for moderation, and backups disappear by themselves within 30 days at most.

15. Notifications

You can turn notifications on or off (social, new books and app notices) from the Menu › Notifications, whenever you want. We do not send you advertising.

16. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Nicaragua. You always keep the rights that the data protection law of your own country grants you.
